Name: Violet
Breed: Chihuahua mix
Age: Adult
Size: Small
Gender: Female
Hi, my name is Violet. I'm a lovely fawn-colored chihuahua mix with white on my chest and feet, and I'm about 3 years old. I'm a remarkable girl. I was dumped out of a car in the country about three months ago, managed to find a nice woman to feed me, was picked up in the pouring rain by another person who brought me to CARE, and after just two weeks with my foster mom I've learned 'sit,' 'let's go,' and 'outside', walk nicely on my leash; love to snuggle and give kisses; am starting to run and play; and am working on some other skills like 'down,' 'come,' and 'stay.' I also get along very well with the two chihuahuas and toy poodle that I'm currently staying with. As you can imagine, it takes me a little while to trust new people but when I meet kind, gentle folks I warm up quickly. I would love to find a forever home where I could live inside with you and be a truly cherished member of your family. I would do best in a home with kind adults and possibly gentle older children. No small children, please. If interested in Violet, please contact Sharon at sharon-care@sbcglobal.net and tell us a little about yourself.

Name: Breezy
Breed: Miniature Pinscher & Dachshund mix
Age: Adult
Size: Small
Gender: Female
Breezy is a one year old miniature pincher and mini dachshund mix weighing in at six pounds. Zippy, super playful and affectionate, she loves being near her people and playing with other dogs. Despite a passion for squirrel and toy chasing, she is not a barker. She is house trained and crate trained, though she would much prefer to sleep under the covers next to her human. She rides nicely in the car but is still learning how to walk on a leash as well as other obedience basics. Breezy's fur is super short, sleek and soft. She is technically a shedding breed, but her foster mom hasn't actually seen any of her hair on her clothes despite hours of cuddling and kisses.
Breezy is beautiful inside and out... could you be her forever home? Contact emily_horch@yahoo.com and visit Breezy's blog at www.carerescuedogs.blogspot.com for more information. If you would like to meet Breezy, she will also be at the CARE Saturday Pet Fair.

Name: Cissy
Breed: Dachshund mix
Age: Adult
Size: Small
Gender: Female
Cissy is a 7 yr. old spayed female Doxie/Chihuahua mix. She is very sweet and loving, absolutely adores her human family, likes other dogs, and ignores kittys. She uses a dog door, is housetrained, is learning to walk on a leash, (not her favorite thing), She just had a dental cleaning, microchip and is UTD on all of her vaccinations. She would be best suited to an adult household or a family with older children. If you would like to meet Cissy, contact her foster home at 831-724-1332, ask for Judy or Cat, or email cat@catalyst2001.com or judy@catalyst2001.com or come and meet Sweet Cissy at the CARE Saturday Pet Fairs.

Name: *Ally
Breed: Chihuahua mix
Age: Adult
Size: Small
Gender: Female
Ally is a “perfect” little dog. Would be excellent for someone who has had little experience with dogs or may have become less able to take care of a dog, because she knows everything she needs to do. Give her a dog door and she will be perfectly housebroken. Put a leash on and she will nicely walk with you as long as you want. Got an empty pillow? Ally will lay on it for you. And most of all, if you get comfort from a little warm body, she will gladly accommodate you. She plays tug-of-war and loves chewies. Doesn’t bark very much and, even then, it is more just to let you know something is happening. But she also talks, especially to welcome me home.
The down side? She came to us because she was starving to death, which turned out to be a pancreas problem. In a related issue, she is pre-diabetic, currently being managed with a special diet and a pill (about $.25 per day) crushed into her food. Being pre-diabetic also means she cycles through a lot of water and life is better for all if she has dog door access 24-hr. a day.
But she still deserves her own home because she has a lot of love to give!
If you are interested, please contact her foster mom JoAnn at roxymuse@comcast.net and give me a bit of information about how Ally will fit into your household. She is usually at CARE’s Saturday pet fair, but email foster mom JoAnn to make sure she’ll be there when you want to meet her.
