Lola Lola

Name: Lola

Breed: Dachshund/ Chihuahua

Age: Young

Size: Small

Gender: Female

Lola is a Doxie/Chihuahua mix. She is weighs about 14lb. and is close to 1 ½ years old. She eats well, and is housetrained, even though she can be a little stubborn to go out in the rain. She loves to go for Bu-bye (car rides) and enjoys the neighborhood walks as well as the park. She knows how to use a doggie door and takes the occasional bath well without complaint.

Lola is micro-chipped and has been heartworm tested and up to date on vaccines. Personality wise, she is a happy little girl who loves her people. She will show that with her waggy tail and cuddling. Sleeping on your lap is her favorite place to be in the evening or of course under the covers. She is not food aggressive and will take treats nicely. Lola loves to play with her fuzzy toys. She gets along with most dogs who mind their manners and she is correctly introduced. It usually takes about 20 minutes to warm up to a new dog companion. She is currently living with another dog and two parrots. No cats please.

If interested in meeting Lola in person….please ask for Sharon.

Millie is a Chihuahua/Doxie mix - some people call that a "Chiweenie". She is about 3 years old and weighs 10 lbs. She can be a little shy at first, but warms up quickly once she gets to know you. All she wants to do is show you her affection and be close to you. She does well on her walks in the neighborhood and gets along fine with the other dogs in her foster home. She is housetrained, sleeps in a crate at night, and knows how to use a doggy door. She has been spayed, microchipped, and heartworm tested.

Millie loves to play with her toys and is looking for a home to spend the rest of her life with. If interested in meeting Millie, please contact Sharon at cng1985@sbcglobal.net and tell us a little more about yourself and your family.

Jasmine Jasmine

Name: Jasmine

Breed: Jack Russel Terrier

Age: Adult

Size: Medium

Gender: Female

Jasmine is a 5-year old Jack Russell Terrier who is an absolutely wonderful dog, full of self confidence and spunk. She was adopted form CARE about 3 years ago, and although her current owners like her a lot, their older Jack Russell Terrier and Jasmine have a common issue that two terriers living together often display. For instance the two dogs get over excited if they see a raccoon on the other side of a glass door and when they can’t get to the raccoon they turn on each other. The current owner does not like it when the two dogs turn on each other and fight. Although the current owner loves Jasmine the male dog was the first dog in the household and she must give up Jasmine. She has offered to hold on to Jasmine until she finds a new home. Her current owner writes: “She is a loving dog who would fit best into a one dog family without small children or cats. She is housebroken and will sit on command.

Jasmine was adopted from CARE and when she was with CARE she was fine with other dogs; it may just be that she is in the house with another Jack Russell. As her foster mom, she was fine with my 3 dogs and played well in the dog park with other dogs - never showed any aggression. The ideal home right now would be one without any other pets, and no small children. Although she is not aggressive toward humans, Jack Russells are very playful and energetic, and could knock over a small child. Like all terriers, I’m sure Jasmine would benefit from obedience training.

Jasmine is spayed and current on her shots. She will not be at any CARE open houses, since it is a long drive for her owner to bring her back and forth. Her current owner wants any e-mails for Jasmine sent to her, since the adoption of Jasmine will be between her current owner and her new owner. CARE will not be involved. We just want to find her a forever home. If you are interested in Jasmine please send an e-mail to Dawn at momydearst@aol.com. She is looking for the perfect home for the dog she has grown to love.

Topsy Topsy

Name: Topsy

Breed: German Shepherd Dog

Age: Senior

Size: Large

Gender: Female

Hello! I am Topsy! I am an older gal, but that does not slow me down to give you lots of love! I enjoy getting my tummy rubbed and I’ll give you lots of kissed that will make you feel loved. I like walks and I can keep up. I am friendly with cats and dogs. My family lost their home and I ended up at the shelter, because of my age the shelter was going to put me to sleep. While I was there I gave a sweet girl my doggy smile. Her heart broke when she found out I was going to have my life be cut off. She agreed with my old owner to take me home to live! Now I am being fostered with her and she is helping me to find a forever home! Will you be that forever companion for me? Please contact Kathy at kvossler@expressmetalinc.com and include a phone number for a faster response. If you would like to meet Topsy, she will also be at the CARE Saturday Pet Fair.

KitKat
Kit Kat

Name: KitKat

Breed: Chihuahua

Age: Adult

Size: Small

Gender: Female

Kit Kat is a Chihuahua mix who weighs about 6 lbs. She is up to date on vaccinations, spayed, and microchipped. She is shy and can be a little snappy at first, until she becomes friends and then she loves you. Kit Kat is crate trained and is working on house training. She likes other dogs, as long as they treat her like royalty. Kit Kat is fine with her kitty friends, but they let her be the “boss”.

Kit Kat was terribly neglected and lacked medical attention for some time. As a result, numerous teeth have been removed and she is slower at accepting new surroundings. In her foster home, she runs around the house, plays with toys and loves to climb on up on the bed and hide under the blankets. If you are looking for a real “Special” girl that will be a true love with time, stop by and meet Kit Kat. I know one way to her heart is treats! Kit Kat loves cookies and will warm up to strangers when you have cookies, cheese or her favorite, Natural Balance log in your hands. Her contact person is Chris and she can be reached at: chrissuperhero2@yahoo.com.

Cissy Cissy

Name: Cissy

Breed: Dachshund mix

Age: Adult

Size: Small

Gender: Female

Cissy is a very sweet and loving Female Doxie Mix. She is current on all vaccinations and is spayed and in good health. She is a bit overweight and is trying to shed those last few lbs. She likes to play with toys and be near her people. She is good with other dogs, ignores the cats. Cissy needs her own forever home, where she can keep her person or people company, go for walks to get her figure back and have help watching what she eats..not watching while she eats! If you would like to meet Cissy, contact her foster home at 831-724-1332, ask for Judy or Cat, or email cat@catalyst2001.com or judy@catalyst2001.com or come and meet Sweet Cissy at the CARE Saturday Pet Fairs.

Emma Emma

Name: Emma

Breed: Chihuahua

Age: Adult

Size: Small

Gender: Female

Meet Miss Emma the Wonder Chihuahua. Even though she was abandoned in a foreclosed house's garage with her six puppies, there is nothing sorry or sad about this spunky little girl. Since becoming a CARE foster dog, Emma's true personality has been getting stronger (and more fun!) every day. She is larger than your average chihuahua (a sturdy 11 pounds), which makes her a great walking or gentle jogging buddy while still being the perfect size to cuddle. Emma is wonderfully affectionate and will spend hours dozing in your arms while being held like a baby. Emma greets her foster mom at the door with energetic happy dances and is learning to play with toys and her Rottie foster brother. She is house trained, crate trained, walks exceptionally well on leash and gets along with other dogs and cats as long as she is the boss. Looks-wise she is a bit exotic and with her large hazel eyes and flying nun bat ears has been compared to an alien, gremlin and even a gargoyle! On leash she always gets lots of attention for her spiffy strut which makes her especially fun to take out and about.

For more pictures of Emma and to learn about her adventures with foster mom Emily and big brother Brogan, please visit her blog at http://emmarescuedog.blogspot.com/. To meet Emma, email emily_horch@yahoo.com or call 408.761.1940.

Photo of dog Birdie

Name: Birdie

Breed: American Staffordshire Terrier (Amstaff) mix

Age: Young

Size: Medium

Gender: Female

Birdie is one and a half years old, and has been quickly learning the last few weeks. She is now housebroken and learned to use the doggie door. She’s learning basic obedience, and loves to please people. When I got her she was exhausted and rested for days in a crate, so she is now crate trained. Birdie loves attention and is looking for companionship and friendship and is very open to a loving heart. Please contact Jordi at mojo.deluxe@gmail.com for more information on Birdie.

Ally Photo of dog Ally

Name: *Ally

Breed: Chihuahua mix

Age: Adult

Size: Small

Gender: Female

Ally is a “perfect” little dog. Would be excellent for someone who has had little experience with dogs or may have become less able to take care of a dog, because she knows everything she needs to do. Give her a dog door and she will be perfectly housebroken. Put a leash on and she will nicely walk with you as long as you want. Got an empty pillow? Ally will lay on it for you. And most of all, if you get comfort from a little warm body, she will gladly accommodate you. She plays tug-of-war and loves chewies. Doesn’t bark very much and, even then, it is more just to let you know something is happening. But she also talks, especially to welcome me home.

The down side? She came to us because she was starving to death, which turned out to be a pancreas problem. In a related issue, she is pre-diabetic, currently being managed with a special diet and a pill (about $.25 per day) crushed into her food. Being pre-diabetic also means she cycles through a lot of water and life is better for all if she has dog door access 24-hr. a day.

But she still deserves her own home because she has a lot of love to give!

If you are interested, please contact her foster mom JoAnn at roxymuse@comcast.net and give me a bit of information about how Ally will fit into your household. She is usually at CARE’s Saturday pet fair, but email foster mom JoAnn to make sure she’ll be there when you want to meet her.
