Molly's new family

Molly

9/16/2010

Foster mom Emily: It's been a bit over a month since Robin, her husband Nick and their two daughters welcomed Molly into their homes. In honor of her new best doggie buddy Mickey, Molly is now Minnie, which must make her the smallest dog ever with so many names. Somehow I think this one will stick. :-)

Minnie has such a great rescue story, from the person who found her on the street in Morgan Hill and brought her to Kathy, to Kathy who fostered and loved her, to her first adoptive 'aunties' who just weren't a great fit and 'returned' her, to all the great people who helped me socialize her even more (Tanya, Maike, Mimi, Jordi, Whitney).

She probably doesn't know it, but Molly set off a chain reaction. There were two people who saw Molly on Craig's List and came into CARE only to adopt other CARE dogs. My friend Fran in Arizona fell in love with Molly's photo, opened her heart to the idea of adopting another dog because of it and ended up adopting a sweet little pup who wandered into her yard and desperately needed a true home. Fran even named her 'Emily', which I have to say makes me all warm and fuzzy inside!

Robin and Nick have given Minnie a great home right back where she started over six months ago in Morgan Hill. From 'tossed away' to adored... that's what rescue is about!

Nose nibbles and kisses to you, Minnie!

Kiwi Being Silly

Kiwi

9/16/2010

Kiwi's foster mom, Cat, says: "I'm just sending out a happy email, one I think we will all appreciate: Kiwi was with us for quite some time as our shy boy, he started opening up and being so much more playful and fun, at home, still shy, but with help from all the CARE volunteers handling him and just more social skills, being practiced he was adopted by our wonderful English Family, Deborah, Paul and Hannah (10 Yrs Old). They adore him and are doing really well with him, and this is the Labor Day weekend update with pic included. Just wanted to thank everyone involved in getting Mr. Kiwi to his forever home."

Kiwi's family: "We have had a fantastic labor day weekend, lots of long walks with Kiwi and having fun with him, we got him some new toys a frisbee and a small soft basketball and he has been making us laugh with them. Today though was the highlight, we went to Poplar beach in Half Moon Bay. Kiwi loved it! He went crazy in the sand, digging, rooting through it and generally just having fun. He played with Hannah and then just hung out with us whilst we watched her in the sea. He was not too interested in getting wet, maybe next time. Late afternoon we went for lunch at a pub nearby that welcomed dogs and he was so good lying underneath the table. He is really loving being out I think and seems to be settling down."

Cesare

I just wanted so say hello and send you a picture of me and Gizmo - Cesare - here in Rome. We're at the Colosseum in this pic. He's doing great and really enjoying himself in this dog friendly city- he can come with me almost anywhere!

I want to thank you again for letting me adopt the love of my life. We both send you a big hug and kiss (well, he sends a lick!).

Take care

PookieBear (formerly Monty)

Monty Monty2

We are already madly in love with Monty, who we renamed "Pookie". He is a love, and follows us around the house. He flips onto his back for a quick, impromptu tummy rub, and we couldn't ask for a more wonderful, cuddly, new family member. Thank you so much to Sharon, Chris, and Dina, at CARE, for all your support and patience in our quest to find a new furry baby for our home. Our hearts still miss our 17 year old border collie/aussie mix, Sonic, but Pookie is certainly filling us up with his unconditional, sweet love.

Sincerely,

The Steeles

Dear CARE,

I wanted to thank you again for all of your efforts. Now we have two dogs adopted from CARE & we are so happy! I've recommended you to several people & am a strong supporter of adoption! There are so many good dogs that need homes. Why "buy" from a puppy mill?

Sincerely,

Cassandra H.

Kayla and her brother Cody

Kayla and her brother Cody Kayla

Hello CARE,

3+ years ago, I was looking to adopt a second dog as a pet and as a companion for my other dog, Cody. As I was a single female, I felt I was always passed on by the Humane Society. Too many times, I received the "there is a family interested in this dog". After months of frustration, I found and contacted C.A.R.E. Within a few weeks, I received an email regarding a puppy who was up for adoption. The puppy's name was Abby, she was 4 months old, quite thin, ear infections in both ears, but was as feisty as could be. My other dog and I met her and immediately loved her.

Abby (now Kayla) was difficult to potty train and had a real bully attitude, but with hard work and training, became a great dog. She is now a cuddle bunny when she is at home, is protective of her family when she needs to be, and gets along with all of the dogs at day care. She loves nothing better than to lie on her bed in front of the fireplace or when the sun is out, lay with the cats. DNA tests confirm she's an Amstaff - which makes me proud to show people what "pit bulls" are really like.

Anyway, I wanted to send you our success story, along with photos of Kayla "before and after". Thank you for giving a single gal a chance to adopt a wonderful dog! Fortunately, my husband (of almost 3 years now), also loves her!

Ron (formerly Eddie) and family

Ron and Muddy Photo of Ron and family Photo

I just wanted to send you a update on Eddie, and a few pictures to share with everyone at CARE. Well first, we renamed Eddie to Ron (Ronnie). Already, Ronnie recognizes his name-- he's quick to learn, and a real sweetheart!

It was clear the first day we got Ron that he was going to be top dog in the house, and Muddy has taken to it just fine. No major territory disputes and only a little bit of dominance displayed while they play, which is expected. I think they're doing great together!

Ron is so funny, he tries to bury his food. From treats to kibble, he accepts them from us, and tries to bury them under blankets and pillows.

I can't thank you and everyone at CARE for taking such good care of this little guy. He is so well behaved and good natured that he's really a dream to work with. Having been in foster care for so long, Ron really benefited from being with you and the other fosters. Thanks again for everything!!

Birdie loves to snuggle with his new family, who were all CARE rescues. Could they be any cuter?
